How much was it:
1) Personnel
2) Player Development
3) Offensive scheme
I think the WRs would do much better for other NFL teams and the personnel may not be as bad as it appears. I think the predictability of the offense and the fact that the Rams do not run passing plays that other NFL teams run and the player development as they never improve fundamentally
well to me those were the bigger factors.
We watch other NFL games and see all of these creative passing plays, but not with these Rams. They were very basic and easy to defend.
I confess to buying into the hope and expectation that the Rams WRs would perform a lot better than they did.
It very well could have been largely influenced by the ineptitude of Fisher in the passing game, although as yet no Rams WR (Pettis, Salas, Gibson) has gone onto star in other places outside of Amendola who did perform very well with the Rams.
I guess that was mostly buying into the belief that Fisher wasn't as bad as I feared. On that I was totally wrong, but I admit it fully. I don't believe in holding onto false premises in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary. Heaven knows there are enough frauds out there selling that line with twisted dialog. The amusing thing is that there are still people interested in their explanations on why things were actually better at the time and how some freak random event changed it all. It's like watching a scene in Monty Python.
