My guess is that the 49ers owner was told by some smart inside NFL people and (GM interviewers like Louis Riddick) that they need to go all out for Shanahan even if it meant waiting out his playoff run.
They already interviewed Kyle once and his second interview will happen next week. I thought this might happen if KS ever told them in his first interview that if you wait this out and stay loyal to me I will accept the job. Just a hunch
