I was obviously being sarcastic with the "hire him now!" part - since as I said I don't follow college football closely and thus don't know all that much about him.
And we don't even know if he is a candidate - or who else might be available.
But you picked out a couple of seemingly minor things you apparently see as disqualifying things about him - while the rest of his career has been unquestionably stellar.
Do you not agree that his overall record has been outstanding, or that he would immediately provide at least hope for major improvement?
Harbaugh - who so many people seem to want - did very well in the pros...and his pre-NFL record wasn't anywhere near as good as Shaw's has been at the very same school.

I am not against him. Just pointing out how he does with a QB that's not that good. He took over a loaded team after Harbaugh left, including having Andrew Luck as the QB. His next QB was pretty good too and he had three terrific years after Harbaugh and while some of the credit should absolutely go to Harbaugh, Shaw did a nice job not screwing it up and in fact keeping it going. He had a 8-5 year after that but bounced back the next year to 12-2 and those were with his own guys. He runs a more pro style offense and seems to be a terrific offensive coordinator, which is good. If you haven't watched, McCaffrey is pretty amazing and has almost single handedly won a bunch of games for them having put up almost 7,000 yards in total offense in 3 years.
