Which makes you wonder what has he been doing since the draft, and what have the coaches been doing with him? In the last several weeks, from people I know around the league, I’ve heard these 2 things: 1.) Goff doesn’t appear to have much in the way of leadership skills. 2.) Behind closed doors in Thousand Oaks, the Rams aren’t as high on Goff as they are proclaiming publicly. by jthomas 2:14 PM
What exactly does that mean?
It could very well mean that the Rams are not happy with where Goff is, in other words, he's not as ready as they expected him to be. And that is what Cole is saying.
So it is misleading for someone to say that Cole and JT are saying 2 different things. We don't know that. What we do know is that they are both indicating that Goff has problems. Whether that's true or not we won't know until we see him on the field.
Cole is doubling down on his statement by tweeting out things like, "let me know when Goff plays", which I take as a snide way of saying Fisher is painting a rosy picture of Goff but he isn't gonna play Goff cause he's far from ready. And Cole has a point. The Rams have lost 3 straight; Keenum has thrown 8 TDs and 10 INTs. He's on pace to throw over 20 picks. That's not a good game manager regardless of how bad your WRs are. The reality is that the Rams aren't making the playoffs with Keenum. Fisher would be delusional if he truly thought that. So the only logical thing I see is that Fisher is not only protecting Goff but also his staff.
Remember when Fisher said months ago that Goff would be playing sooner than people think. Well, did anyone think Goff wouldn't be playing at least by the game after the bye?
If Goff doesn't play against the Panthers then something is amiss.
