The Rams receivers have dropped nine passes through six games, which is one of the worst marks in the NFL. Is wideout Tavon Austin to blame?

According to Sporting Charts, Los Angeles wide receiver Tavon Austin has four dropped passes this season. That’s just one behind Brandon Marshall (Jets) and Marvin Jones, Jr. (Lions) for the most in the NFL.

Austin has dropped 8.2% of passes targeted his direction through six weeks this season. He has caught 53.1% of the passes thrown his way in 2016. It’s the lowest rate of his career, though the trend is not uncommon for him.

Other receivers like Jones, however, have a more impressive rate. This year, Jones has caught 61.7% of his targets.

A.J. Green, who has three drops, has pulled in 67.7% while Demaryius Thomas (also with three dropped passes) has caught 70.5% of his looks.

Over the offseason, Austin signed a 4-year, $42 million contract extension with the Rams. He has just one touchdown on the season and averages just 27.5 yards per game.

T.Y. Hilton, who has a similar contract structure for the Indianapolis Colts, averages 92.7 receiving yards per game.

Kenny Britt, who makes half as much per year for the Rams, has 82.0 yards per game in 2016.
