Monday Wrap-Up: Turnovers, Takeaways the Difference on Sunday

By Myles Simmons

Rams head coach Jeff Fisher began his weekly press conference by citing a few numbers — all from the offense.

In Sunday’s game, the Rams finished with around 370 gross offensive yards, had 23 first downs to the Bills’ 15, and possessed the ball for 35:33 to Buffalo’s 24:26.

“That’s a formula for success, that’s a formula for winning, and one would expect to do so,” Fisher said.

The difference, of course, was another number. The Rams had three turnovers to the Bills’ zero in Los Angeles’ 30-19 loss.

“As I mentioned yesterday,” Fisher said, “the difference in this ball game, was the fact that they created turnovers — made big plays in two situations and we didn’t get any turnovers defensively.”

Currently, the Rams’ offense still ranks at No. 32. That’s a product of the way the club began the season, scoring just nine points in the first two weeks. And while Fisher noted the improvement, he asserted he is by no means satisfied.
