Re: Anyone recall the 1985 MNF play at Seattle???

I was at that 1985 MNF game in the old Kingdome. Rams were 2-0 coached by John Robinson and Seattle was 2-0 coached by former Ram HC GroundChuck Knox. Dave Krieg has the most fumbles in NFL history IIRC....and still does I think. Anyhoo, Rams safetyman Vince Newsome IIRC nearly gathered up the loose hog-bladder, but Krieg retrieved it and fired it into the End Zone for a Seahawk TD.

Dickerson ran very well that night.

The game where we set the NFL record for holding a team to total negative yardage was in the SBXIV year of 1979 (November?). It was also the game where Ram QB Pat Haden was sliding along the old carpet and the baby finger of his throwing-hand got caught in a hole in the seam and he was done for the year.....enter the Vince Ferragamo era!
Best PostGame line after that game came from Freddie Dryer who was asked
"How does it feel to hold a team to negative yardage for an entire game and set a NFL record?"
Freddie said,
"...it's like walking into a bar at 2AM and the best looking woman in the place looks up....
....and she smiles at you!"

Loved Fred Dryer.....#89 in yer programs ladies and gentlemen! smiling smiley
