Since some here get a bit uptight when using player comparisons I won't do that, but Spruce to me passes the eye test in every way. How this guy didn't get drafted just goes to show how flawed the NFL tunnel vision of an ideal of Height, Speed, Weight is.
The only thing Spruce lacks is speed (not that he's slow), but he does run right at 4.6 for a 40 (so did Jerry Rice).
But he has nice size at 6'1" 206 pounds. And when you look at him, you see a well built guy who isn't frail and as we saw in the last game, he plays strong.
He is a slick runner, glue for hands, fearless over the middle. He is known for great routes and instincts. Doesn't make mental mistakes.
I think he's going to be a borderline star, and at the least become a real fan favorite for the Rams.
Really a bummer that he might not get to play the rest of the preseason; but I have a hunch he's already penciled in as on the roster.
