That's actually more than I expected for an exhibition game of retired players. A lot more for a city that just lost it's team. I guess they deserve credit but I don't know what it really means. Hopefully those fans can continue to be Rams fans. But I think this particular cast of players helps illustrate that the GSOT set a standard that was hard to live up to.
And I think anything less than the GSOT was going to affect attendance through the years.
It was a good turnout
The GSOT Rams are not the team that left St. Louis. The team that left St. Louis had been at, or near, the bottom of the league for a dozen years.
I don't think any fan expected the GSOT every year, but they also didn't expect them to "drop off the cliff" and be one of the worst teams either. Sure it would've been great to go on a "dynasty" type route, 10 or 12 playoff appearances in 15 years but I can't believe that was expected either.
IMO about the only reasonable expectation after the GSOT days was for them to at least be a competitive team, and maybe have a chance to make the playoffs. For whatever reason it wasn't to be, I think Georgia passing, and the team essentially being on auto pilot until the end had a lot to do with the fall of the Rams.
