Eliss is the son of Luther Eliss, retired Lions’ DT. My buddy coached with him at Idaho and his sons have gone through that program: Caden and there was another son whose name slips me. The Eliss kids have a high motor—no quit and are good human beings. That part of their profile fits with the Rams. If his measurables are off the charts, then maybe he’s worth a high pick.by Ekern55 - RamsFootballFans.com
He’s not getting offers for the same reasons we’d like to see him get an HC job and open up the DC position for McVay. He’s come a long way in schemes and creating third and outs which were our big complaints in 2021–no more 9 minute drives where offenses march down the field against the soft shell. But as very good as the defense was with a bunch of rookies, rookie contract players plus Aaby Ekern55 - RamsFootballFans.com
But two times within a month is a bad look. Also—can’t remember if it was Kyren or Puka—but he hugged one of them to force them out of bounds and when he was a good three yards out, he threw them down to the ground violently. No flag. From his actions he looks like he’s out to hurt people.by Ekern55 - RamsFootballFans.com

Kyren Williams is the best running back since LaDanian Tomlinson, IMO. Problem is his size differential to mass resistance is getting him injured. He runs like a big back. I have no problem with him and his angry running style. But they’ve got to focus on backs that won’t easily be tossed to the ground when their feet aren’t under them. Same thing with Henderson. He was fierce runninby Ekern55 - RamsFootballFans.com

Morris’s odds are enhanced or dimished by Bobby Wagner’s input, IMO. Players some to like to play for him. The only one that was an exception is Jalen Ramsey. But if Morris brings the McVay culture, the Seahawks might bring a challenge.by Ekern55 - RamsFootballFans.com

Wink’s a great defensive mind. I wish Rams could get him. Sounds like he thinks McVay’s elite. Since he has to game plan against him, I bet he knows what he’s talking about.by Ekern55 - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteRampage2K- QuoteEkern55 I looked up the ranking for redzone efficiency and for 2023, the Rams ranked 8th (66%). Over McVay’s career the Rams have gone back and forth between middle of the pack (c. 50%) to top 10(60%-65%). Here’s my take: You want to convert at a 75% clip. If you do that, you’re top 3 in the league. What I think McVay doesn’t truly and really grasp is that his talenby Ekern55 - RamsFootballFans.com

If I recall, tackling wasn’t so great under Staley (or am I just remembering how poorly his Chargers’ defense tackled. I can’t recall how Wade Phillips’ teams tackled. Gregg Williams had good tackling and toughness. Morris’ defenses haven’t been stand outs when it comes to tackling. Glad to hear former players making that comment—Collinsworth (former player, obviously) made it too—instead of just hearing on our beloved Ramily message board. That way, if the word travels up to the Rams’ front office, it has gravitas. That should be an easy fix. I’ve been a big fan of using Hoecht at the DE spot—300 pounder who runs a 4.6. I think this has been a perennial complaint since he became coach. He just need to realize he really sucks at that part of the game. Honestly, like some said: call plays from your own 25 to the opponent 20, then let Lafluer take over.by Ekern55 - RamsFootballFans.com
McVay has one thing that stands head and shoulders above all other NFL coaches. He gets his players to buy in and they never quit. The Rams had every reason for go fetal position like the Cowboys and Browns. But the players stayed in it and almost won this thing in the face of a screaming crowd. I think the adage is true: the way to beat McVay is to make McVay beat himself. And by that, Iby Ekern55 - RamsFootballFans.com

Tackling and defensive toughness. Detroit out toughen us on the defensive side of the ball. Our offense deserves an applause. Balled out and got off the mat time and again. Defense was playing flag football.by Ekern55 - RamsFootballFans.com
