Could be that this was just about not wanting to pay an ILB, period. Or could be that the Rams are trying to not publicize that he has a bum knee... Or they were intended on trading him and didn't want him to get hurt in practice. They brought Reeder back in April... Is it business? or trying to do the right thing? Or both. Good enough to play but not good enough to pay. I think what Jourdan said is probably right... the Rams are hoping someone will replace him mid-season. Guys like Reeder are great to have on a team because they are cheap and a borderline starter. I am not thrilled about him as a starter... hopefully he does better than anticipated. Sorry if already posted. McVay said that Reeder and Rozeboom will be the “base” starters as preparation for Week 1 begins. While the Rams may lean on Reeder early in the season — he has worn their “green dot” in the past — they hope young undrafted free-agent Omar Speights emerges as a starter or key contributor down the stretch. Should be interesting to see how they plan to move forward. At this point I feel as good about Speights as any other option because I feel there is a higher ceiling. Quick, good vision and experience... but to me he looked slow and not as strong as I thought based on his height/weight ratio. I want to be a Zach Evans fan but something is missing with him. Fine for a perennial practice squad player and last resort fill in. Jones and the Rams disagree on compensation. What's the market for him? I guess that's something that will come to light and then they can proceed accordingly. The Rams don't have to trade him just because there is a partner. They can also insist that he play under the current contract if they don't trade him and then he is a free agent next year. The argument it uses doesn't hold up 100% imo but it's credible. not enough footballs and Stafford will key in on one receiver at times. But he should be comfortable enough with the group he has to spread it around. 50 catches does seem about right but then 3 catches a game seems a tad low, lol... Maybe it's a situation where they know what they have in Reeder. They know his ceiling. And now they are trying to find upgrades. But I kind of feel like there is a comfort level with Reeder. Could the Rams have 3 1000 yd receivers? Robinson has never broken 500yds in a season. However, it's been reported more than once that he and Stafford have been on the same page in camp. Robinson played strong (especially the last two games) last season and averaged 14.3 ypc. for the season. I think Robinson will be on the field enough to get close. Otherwise they were going with Brett Rypien as the first in line back up. I am on the fence. Bennett makes some nice reads, some nice throws, a few great throws... but he is not seeing the whole field or something. I mentioned his height before as a possible issue.
