They don't need to trade Tru for that.by dzrams - RamsFootballFans.com
From a lot of the experts I'm seeing, it seems WR is not great value at 37 either. I'm seeing a bunch of 1st round value and then a lot of late 2nd projections. What say you about that? I think Kupp will be there at our pick in the 3rd. He seems like the type to slide. I doubt Juju or Godwin will be. I'm thinking this draft may be a good one to trade down a bit with pick 37.by dzrams - RamsFootballFans.com
I'm just starting to review Godwin too and agree on the edge to him. However, he and Juju don't look like they have similar game to me. Juju wins with size and strength and good route running. He looks like a possession receiver. A solid #2. I wonder about his fit with Woods. Godwin looks like a far superior and more explosive athlete. He bests Juju by quite a bit in the 40, the shuttby dzrams - RamsFootballFans.com
Nope. I didn't say they were set. I was objecting to the conclusion that it's a downgrade or the same. I'd like to see them draft a WR and TE by round 3.by dzrams - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteTonyHunter87 They downgraded from Britt to woods. And everything else is the same. So they still are very weak at WR. Spruce can't stay healthy, Cooper didn't do much and Marquez is a special teamer at best. On Spruce and Cooper, it's not wise to jump to conclusions based on a rookie season IMO. Who do you like better? I'm starting to really like Chris Godwin right now.by dzrams - RamsFootballFans.com
I suspect their first plan was to trade him and sign a vet free agent CB. Plan B would be to sign some other quality free agent at another position. Seeing that there are no quality free agents remaining, I doubt they trade him now. They don't need the money this year.by dzrams - RamsFootballFans.com
Quote9er8er Seems a little odd for both sides. I wonder who wanted the one year deal, Barwin or the Rams? Barwin is coming off of two down years in a row and a position change last year. A one year deal is a "prove it" contract that could lead to a bigger payday next year if he bounces back in a familiar role in the D. Quoteferragamo79 not a good offer, but time to move on DO have to address center and the line[/quote It was a calculated risk and they couldn't offer too much money because they needed to sign Barwin too. They'll end up drafting a center by round 3 is my guess.by dzrams - RamsFootballFans.com

They like to trade players prior to their last season. We should sign Hightower and trade Ogletree for whatever we can get. The difference in salary won’t be too much but the impact in play would be significant.by dzrams - RamsFootballFans.com
Quotezn Quotedzrams You mentioned it, but I’d like to emphasize that Easley was surprisingly good against the run last year. He was every bit as good as the traditional run-first 3-4 DE. And I agree, LOLB is where the need is. I hope they go draft not Chris Long. I could be wrong obviously but Easley does not strike me as being a 3/4 DE. QuoteBlue and Gold maybe it was circumstance, but I watched him and he was out of position, getting blocked more than in 2015. In 2015 he was excellent, making lots of plays in the backfield, not missing tackles. Do you have the same stats for 2016?by dzrams - RamsFootballFans.com
In addition to what everyone else has said, IMO, there should be an iron-clad rule that it’s a bad idea to trade future firsts unless you’re getting a good QB.by dzrams - RamsFootballFans.com

I don’t know that we have enough draft capital to address the need. I’m betting safety would be fourth or fifth on the priority list. And despite how deep you say the class is, odds are still that the 4th or 5th round pick has a very slim chance at being a starter. IMO, safety is one of the positions that is smart to address in free agency because by and large there is much less overpayinby dzrams - RamsFootballFans.com

The market was set last year with Jenkins. This is a clear sign to me that the Rams desperately want Tru but Tru doesn’t want the Rams. Consider this: if he plays under the $16.7 mil. tag, they would have paid him nearly $31 mil. in two seasons. That’s more than the guaranteed amount of the highest paid CB contracts. I agree that pass rushers are still a need. In the 3-4, the need changes to rushing LBs IMO. And you're right on Quinn. Who knows about his health. That's why I want Nick Perry. FWIW, Wade is on record as saying one of the reasons he prefers a 3-4 D is because they are cheaper to build. Pass rushing LBs are generally easier to find and cheaper than DE’s.by dzrams - RamsFootballFans.com
Yes, it changes things but not fundamentally. I think it’s pretty dumb to sign him for $16.7 mil. Hopefully they can use it as leverage to negotiate a long term contract. Problem is, players don’t like it and usually resist negotiating after being tagged twice. I’m assuming he signs the tender and plays at an exorbitant salary making this his last year as a Ram. QuoteLMU93 I agree with your cuts except for Cody Davis (doesn't cost a lot and an excellent ST player) and, for now, Kendricks. There are a lot of RBs on the market and it's a good draft class but Cunningham is a top 5-6 KOR in this league and I would bet Fassel is pushing to keep him. In the last couple of years, the Rams strategy was to build through the draft and avoid wild forays into free agency. In 2012 when they first hired Fisher however, they dipped into free agency for significant pieces because the team needed talent and they needed players that fit Fisher’s mold.
