You and I probably saw the same games the same way (ie, live or recorded). Yeah, that's me too. Turned off the game at 13-0 and didn't turn it back on until I heard the 57-yarder was good. It's terrible that I can't even watch the team live in the most important games in 20 years!by JYB - RamsFootballFans.com
Some good stuff here. CALIFORNIA COOL LOS ANGELES -- The mood was tense. The stakes were enormous. The din was deafening -- and that was just in the Los Angeles Rams' huddle. Trailing 13-0 early in the second quarter of the NFC Championship Game in New Orleans two Sundays ago, his team rattled by a cacophonous Superdome crowd he'd later describe as "the loudest thing I'll everby JYB - RamsFootballFans.com
I take some comfort in the fact that the Rams have faced a Belichick defense -- even if it was just the Lions -- along with Wade's familiarity with the Pats. Feel pretty confident that McVay learned from that experience and will use it to combat whatever the Pats throw at him.by JYB - RamsFootballFans.com
Love to see Jared get in Cam Jordan's face after Jordan dropped into coverage and Goff threw it over his outstretched arm for a completion and then playfully asks him "What do you think are you, a DB?" Jordan says, "Hey you know it. A little bit lower next time."by JYB - RamsFootballFans.com
It's not my argument -- it's Mangini's, who was on the defensive staff. And he's saying explicitly that the Rams helped the Pats by not running. I suspect the reason the Rams were able to finally move the ball in the 4th quarter is because the defensive line started to get worn down and perhaps Martz started to better understand how to attack the coverage. But it's pretty clear that the Paby JYB - RamsFootballFans.com
Just giving you Mangini's take, who was on the NE defensive staff and stated explicitly that the Rams refusal to run early is what allowed them to stay in their preferred coverage. "If they had given the ball to Marshall Faulk on a consistent basis, we wouldn’t have been able to play as much split safety as we did (two safeties deep, rolling up the corners, beating up the receivers),by JYB - RamsFootballFans.com
True, he diagnosed the play and ran over to try to stop it. But if the ref had ruled correctly, we'd be WISHING he never saw the play and that the Aints had scored a TD there. That would've given the Rams time to try to tie it up instead of watching the Aints bleed the clock to almost nothing and kick the winning FG. But, given that they didn't make the call, I suppose it is accurate to sayby JYB - RamsFootballFans.com
Here's an interesting take on the Pats' strategy in SB 36 by Eric Mangini, who was with the Pats at that time. Seems pretty clear that they counted on -- and were happy that -- the Rams abandoned the run.by JYB - RamsFootballFans.com

Quotedodgerram Personally I would put both of Gregs kicks vs the Saints ahead of Lansford. The game tying 48 yarder was a such a pressure kick. Even more pressure than the game winner IMHO. If he misses the 48 yarder we are down and out right there. Go Rams!!!!!!!!! Me too. Stakes were much higher. Quotebigjimram21 This is getting ridiculous , What with politicians calling for investigations, replaying the last 1: 49 . What next, a demand that the Saints replace the Rams in Atlanta? They are not going to do any of those things. Congress has better things they should be doing, and the city, and state politicians are just making noise. Rams really need to win this game. QuoteSunTzu_vs_Camus and he didn't run the clock down----he passed it on 1st & 3rd downs---without running the clock down. So, I'm not sure we can assume he'd do something different cuz he demonstrated his intent by passing the ball - not running the clock down. If nothing else, the refs will understand that they are under a bigger microscope and will be more cognizant that "letting them play" could draw unwanted attention to them.by JYB - RamsFootballFans.com
If he really said that to NRC, then he's admitting that he knew NRC got there early, but didn't call PI because of a tip. And on a call that crucial, if he thought it was tipped, he should've huddled with other officials to confirm it (AFTER throwing a flag). Furthermore, a tip could've been confirmed by replay if necessary, since it was inside of two minutes. Seems to me the ref knew immediateby JYB - RamsFootballFans.com
I think for Saints fans, it's doubly painful because of how they blew it last year vs. the Vikes. They had the game won and gave it away on a final desperation play that never should've happened. They were bitter and disillusioned, but didn't really have anybody they could blame for it, except their own team. And then to have the very next season end the way it did just intensifies their aby JYB - RamsFootballFans.com

QuoteSaguaro I know, guys, this thing has been done to death already. But I have the kind of mind that likes to line things out for the sake of clarity. QuoteMamaRAMa Have you guys seen this? It'll never happen. Would love to have a rematch with them this year -- the 2019 regular season, that is. QuoteJamesJM but I really don't think you're right. It is VERY much in my memory that making a move OUT of the end zone in an attempt to advance the ball meant a safety if you were tackles in the end zone. Absolutely "KEEPING" the ball in the end zone is a touch back... not saying THAT changed.. .always been that way. You are correct. I don't think the call was "blown" so much as it was a consequence of the "let em play" philosophy of playoff football. I believe the refs did not want to make a game-ending call in that situation, in one of the biggest games of the year, with everything on the line. They wanted it to be decided on the field. It's the same philosophy that was employed in SB 36, when theby JYB - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteCROMWELL21 Lansford kick in 1983 had me just as excited. But I was 15 then and 50 now. I'll never forget Lansford's quote after the game, when asked how he made the kick with so much pressure, and he said he'd just pick out one drunk in the stands and focus on kicking it to him. QuoteAlbaNY_Ram I agree with your take on the change in the Rams strategy on offense but I have a question: why hasn't abandoning the longer passes led to an increase in completion percentage? Beyond what others have suggested, it could also be a case of Goff just not being able to get into a rhythm when he is passing so infrequently.by JYB - RamsFootballFans.com
