Defenses crowded the box. Lots of defenders near the line of scrimmage. Grab, bump, deter, whatever you want to call it, but keep Britt and Quick from getting off the line, which was fairly easy to do. Swarm to Gurley or blitz Goff. The line could not hold off the rushers, the defense knew the ball had to come out quick, Britt and Quick and Kendricks could not separate quick enough, and Goffby LBRamsFan - RamsFootballFans.com
I guess if that is your lens for evaluating Goff (or any player), then your expectations are going to fall significantly short. Because the mythical standard for a number one overall pick needs to be John Elway, but bigger, stronger, faster, and win more games earlier. Good luck with that. I have seen Goff four or five times at training camp this year. He looks good. He still fits the moldby LBRamsFan - RamsFootballFans.com
Even the TD that the defense allowed, the linebacker was in great position but couldn't make the play against a talented TE prospect. And the Rams were driving again until the snap-over-the-head snafu, which you would expect would be a rare occurrence in the future.by LBRamsFan - RamsFootballFans.com
I have gone to every game so far in LA, preseason and regular season, and there was one thing that was different about Saturday that gave me a modicum of hope. I have a seat at midfield, and watching the Rams last year the most frustrating thing I saw that plagued them virtually every game was the lack of wide receivers getting "open." I would see the other team's offense and thereby LBRamsFan - RamsFootballFans.com
After the Rams drafted so many Senior Bowl participants, I went back and watched the broadcast on the game. During the broadcast, about 3 minutes into the second quarter, they interview Phil Savage who runs the event and used to work for the Ravens and Browns. The interviewer asked Phil who has impressed him that week. PS mentioned Zay Jones and Cooper Kupp as the two guys who stood out theby LBRamsFan - RamsFootballFans.com
I think he is a great listen, and he knows football like nobody on this board but he is always engaging and an interesting listen. I set my alarm to hear his Moving the Chains bit, along with all his radio spots. To each his own I guess. Go Rams!by LBRamsFan - RamsFootballFans.com
That's all this is. Trying to create drama. "Sources informed me . . ." Does anyone's eyes tell them that Goff is third string in the Coaches' eyes? No, this is someone who is making way too big a deal about Manion's performance in the fourth quarter of a first preseason game. Nothing to see here.by LBRamsFan - RamsFootballFans.com
The problem is that Austin, Cooper, and Spruce are all slot type receivers. There is no X if Britt went down. Quick is Britt's replacement if something ever happened to Britt. Also, Quick had a bad game on Saturday but Goff's first ball was tough because Goff got the ball out so fast that the normal timing and cadence was off. Quick still should have caught it, but he barely got his head arouby LBRamsFan - RamsFootballFans.com
I think Keenum is going to have to be wildly successful to keep Goff off the bench. Like first place, and playing at an all-pro level. If the Rams are win one, lose one, Goff will play. Fisher's mantra since the beginning is that "Goff will play when he is ready." He has explained that "ready" means that he can "protect himself." I interpret that as, he canby LBRamsFan - RamsFootballFans.com
Quotemoklerman Certainly doesn't make sense to me that Bradford, Newton, Luck, Bortles, Winston, etc. could all get on the field right away but Goff is going to have to sit on the bench...behind Keenum!?! Is Goff just not in the same class as those other guys? Just like Eli, Goff is going to have win a couple of Super Bowls. But is it more likely that will happen or just RGIII 2.0?
