Quoteroman18 I am not downplaying sacks in any way, but the guys with the most sacks are the high priced guys for the most part. That said IMO pressures actually do more damage as they can produce those all important turn overs. So as far as an edge goes you want to see a bunch of sacks, but those pressures cause more turmoil. A sack is sexy, a pressure is more dynamic (with possibilities of mby JimYoungblood53 - RamsFootballFans.com
Quoteazramfan He wouldn't play edge. He's a big DE that runs 4.95 40 yd dash. He's like Hoecht, nightmare in coverage.by JimYoungblood53 - RamsFootballFans.com
Quotemax What a shame for those teams of the 70's.. A steady QB would have been a huge difference-makerby JimYoungblood53 - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteSoCalRAMatic Well, I don't know how to judge this one. Chop is a big hit or miss. Unreal talent but has effort questions. If we get him to play opposite Young why pick another edge in the second? Darious Robinson isl little more of a 4-3 DE ... IMO ... size-wiseby JimYoungblood53 - RamsFootballFans.com

Quoteden-the-coach What I do not understand is why GM Don Klosterman soured on Jaworski because he drafted Jaworski in 1973 over someone like Dan Foutes for example, but read that Klosterman felt Jaworski was not accurate. In 1975, Jaworski led the Rams to some great victories, in fact, one of their better playoff victories against the Cardinals plus over the Steelers on a Monday Night game,by JimYoungblood53 - RamsFootballFans.com
Quotealyoshamucci Versus next year ... Most of the players this year were either college playoff contenders (this or previous years) or with the Heisman winner. You're not going to get that level of readiness next year. I like the kids next year okay (Burden, T McMillan, Egbuka, Bond, R Owens) but only 2 have that kind of experience. just catching up but it seems there are the top 10by JimYoungblood53 - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteRamdemic Fair response. To be clear, I don't recommend trading up for anyone this draft. I just don't want to trade back to 28,29, 30 and miss out on our targets and then pick what? Guyton, AD Mitchell, Mckinnstry. None of that sounds great. I think by 28 , all our targets may be gone, even Chop, who I don't particularly trust. and get a WR, CB, Edge, DT---even future QB Not that I wantby JimYoungblood53 - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteRamdemic I don't mean to sound like a jerk but if you don't see something THAT special in Newton and Murphy, then you haven't been paying attention. . But I have seen a little bit of football in my time and a lot of defensive tackle prospects. Maybe definitions need to be explained. Quoteramzilla If you are a bad to average team, you want more picks to shore up several positions to become at least a good team. If you are a good to very good team attempting to be a Super Bowl team, I think what you need, are "difference makers", and so you do not need many picks just a few picks of players who would give you the edge in playoff games. Depends on too manyby JimYoungblood53 - RamsFootballFans.com
Quoteramzilla Since the players available in 2024 are perceived as better that the player to be available in 2025 The Rams will probably do some fishing and see what teams, at certain selection numbers for certain players, would be interested in the Rams 1st round this year and next year. because that is what it would be ... approx. and that is in a normal year. Was told by someone I trust last year that Avila's best position was center and was surprised when he played guard. He did well at guard ... so it probably doesn't matter, but they wouldn't have said it if he had problems with snaps any more than any other center coming out --- Humphrey, etc. A smart guy like him will be able, I think, to handle it. It's a huge upgrade at center and notby JimYoungblood53 - RamsFootballFans.com
Quoteden-the-coach The Los Angeles Rams had an excellent special teams coach back then in Gil Haskell and Mark Jerue was one of the best special team players on the squad. Jerue did get a chance to start later on, but he did struggle staying healthy, but that group under Haskell was quite an amazing unit and for the most part under John Robinson the special team unit was actually special with Marby JimYoungblood53 - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteLMU93 It's a good point. Hardly a premier player but not enough talk about needing to replace Williams (600 snaps last year), not just Donald, on the DL. That's why I don't dismiss at all the idea of taking Murphy or Newton. Ideally after a small move back but maybe that's greedy. Desjuan Johnson should take on a bigger role in 2024 too of course. but Murphy and Newton wouldn't replaceby JimYoungblood53 - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteRockRam After reading what so many of the NFL guys and good analysts say, both in their opinions of the players, and in their mocks, here is the group from which the Rams are bound to select one of them: Latu, Verse, Chop Robinson, Newton, Murphy Probably at least 2 of these guys, maybe even 3, will be there at 19 enabling the Rams to stand pat and not have to trade up. Quoteden-the-coach His father is in the HOF and Junior is bigger, stronger & faster. Some will question the fact that he didn't participate, but he works his tail off and proved that at the Woody Hayes Center every day. Harrison, Jr. Always stayed later working on his craft so I believe he would be worthy of a trade up of this magnitude as I truly hope he does not end up in our division.by JimYoungblood53 - RamsFootballFans.com
This is typical 4-man line in nickel Donald at 3, Kobie at 2i .... edges at 9 These are 3x1, overload "gold" or whatever in these you have 2 good pass rushing DTs, Turner and Donald Turner stays --- but if Rams take a monster in the middle--- who plays with turner inside this is where a 3rd or 4th (trade to 5ths) round guy like a Hall or Wingo would fit. You can see where Williams is compared to Donald, there are close to same position but slightly different. My take is Donald had freedom to move more to the guard because of who he is and what he was able to do Would Turner have that kind of freedom? Don't know. Is it a call where anyone would play the 3/4i like Donald? Don't know. In either case someone had to do that and someone has tby JimYoungblood53 - RamsFootballFans.com

I don't know the answer ---- but he did drop some weight so maybe if he did get back to 300-310 he would be more effective as a DE/DT ... All I know is as a stopgap, he's fine ---- but we need upgrade in some fashion. My opinion is that he's a valuable player to have on your team to backup 2-3 positions. I just never have seen a starter in him --- not as a DE/DT or OLberby JimYoungblood53 - RamsFootballFans.com
Quotealyoshamucci Exactly what I see. Cosell is high on him. With Chop and Braswell he did mention coverage. I have seen Latu pick off a couple of passes, but for whatever reason Coseel didn't talk about it. The comparisons are good---if he were TJ Watt, and Rams took him, it would be perfect If he's Danielle Hunter---then it's not perfect fit, but maybe more of a good fit. Quote21Dog Let him put his hand in the dirt and rush the passer. He could be a valuable asset. No one can question his motor. Exactly that. and he's average at best. So, a motor is fine but if the engine is too small, you are not going to get too far. He also plays in the base and 5-1. There is simply needs to be replaced.by JimYoungblood53 - RamsFootballFans.com
