I get what you're saying. But all my conclusions are based on is what we can see as of now, as best we can see it. You could argue the same thing about practice. How can a coach know how a player will perform when the bullets actually fly? And yet, they have to choose anyway. And the same in Preseason. GRob played 4 series. 1st series. Perfect. 2nd series. Perfect. 3rd series. Allowed some pressure in Pass Pro but his man didn't reach the QB. But otherwise was good. 4th series. Whiffed on one play (Pass pro) and his man definitely affected the play; but otherwise was good. He pass protected well against DE and OLB. In run blocking he pushed people around. Fisher's claim to fame is that the players love him. He is more of a father than a demanding HC. And no one wants to see their father go because they love him, through thick and thin. Think Bellichek would have permitted Quinn to fly to Rio, miss a few days of camp, to watch his sister in ONE race? No way. Bad message. Watch it on TV and stay here to keep getting better. I've heard the opinion that Spruce is only a slot guy (repeated it myself). But he was a WO in college when he rewrote the record books. Why can't he play WO in the NFL? He looks big enough, stout enough, and has sufficient speed to do that....I think.by RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com

Slight disagreement with your list. First, no way they cut Hill. He'll make the 53 and might even start opposite TruJ with Gaines out for a couple of weeks. I agree about Quick. The guy just isn't an NFL level WR; besides he also doesn't play STs. If he's not a starter, he has to play STs and he doesn't. Green, yeah, cut and resign if he can get through waivers. I was and remain 100% with the FO in cutting both JLs.......James and Chris. Obviously diminished skills, and way too much money to boot. But that's football. It really takes a toll. Both of those guys are favorites of mine and am glad and proud that they were Rams.by RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com

I am not optimistic about the Rams as long as Fisher is in charge. So let's get that out of the way. Why the words "extension" and "Fisher" are even used in the same sentence is beyond me. I've been saying it for weeks now. This team has 2 legimitate proven WRs, and 2 who probably will be good NFL WRs, and that's it. Britt and Austin are good. Cooper and Spruce I think will prove to be good (I think Spruce is going to be very good). After that we have a bunch of guys who couldn't catch a cold. But rookie WRs don't usually do much. Prescott has look great. But, preseason is preseason. We'll see how it goes when the D's get complicated and he's facing some great pass rushers. But I predict he'll do well. If he does, they need to just let Romo go the old QB graveyard. I like Romo. But he has become so fragile....dare I say Bradford-like. Good skills. Bad luck. I think the Rams are going to make a move or two before game 1. And the reason is simple: Keenum is playing very well, Mannion has progressed, and Goff is starting to come on. The oline is looking better than I thought it would. Higbee is going to quickly rise as one of the better receiving TEs. I noticed that Fisher never brings it up either. But I suppose that's to be expected; he's not going to promote a private academy that does a better job of coaching up his player than his staff does. But I remember seeing an interview with Bentley after coaching GRob, and he says he is the most talented, athletic, powerful OT he has ever coached. I don't think it is any coincidence that he attended Bentley's Oline school and now he is much better. But at the same time, that's not the only reason. Time, reps, health, determination, study, it all works together. He was an awfully young man (I think he was only 20 or 21) when he came out. It has to have been that for some reason the player who touched the ball was not eligible to do so, as opposed to any player on the kick unit touching the ball inside the 5. Perhaps going out of the bounds (thus being ineligible to the be the FIRST to touch the ball) isn't the only reason to make a guy ineligible to touch it first. This is not at all about the amount of money: it stays the same regardless. It is strictly about how it gets paid out. There is no argument over the amount of salary, bonus, or even the amount guaranteed. This is strictly about the way the SB is paid out and if the player is cut or traded if he gets to double dip on guaranteed money. What I keep hearing is that 1) Nobody pays the SB in one lump sum (especially for the highest picks) and 2) offset language is pretty standard even though not universal. Also that basically a balance is usually sought between how much SB is paid all at once, versus offset language. So if Offset is included, then the SB is paid out more quickly. Kirwin is essentially saying that although the kid is setting his bridges on fire, pretty soon he'll exhaust all his options and sign like Bradford did. And exactly what did all this accomplish? It gave the team and Bosa bad tastes in their mouths for one another, and it makes other teams wary. The smart move is to start Keenum game 1. He's earned it. He's played very well. He's earned his teammates and his coaches respect. If he flops nothing could be more welcome by everyone than to insert Goff. If he succeeds, that works, too.....nobody will complain and all will be happy for Keenum. I don't see where Bosa fits. He is a classic hand in the dirt 4-3 DE. Why would a 3-4 team draft him? He's sure not going be a 3-4 DE. So that means he's going to be a stand-up OLB. Talk about a risk. And I suspect that Bosa and his family might just be thinking the same thing. Because if the Chargers are wrong, it is going to hurt Bosa a lot too. But the idea that what player wants is to be paid in full by two teams simultaneously, because he's been cut (almost always for either getting into trouble for the umpteenth time or simply not playing well enough), is not reasonable. I suspect that the Rams are playing it cool right now because they don't want to appear to be without compassion for a guy who obviously is having severe mental health issues. Don't know if it is drug related, or psychological, or physical at this point. Just to change the subject a bit: What is the deal with this Bosa hold out and nastiness? Considering this sort of thing is rare, that the CBA more or less dictates the salary, bonus, years, etc., and that San Diego hasn't had any trouble signing anyone for several years, one has to wonder what's going on. Spruce is your classic guy who simply has everything except speed and charisma. And the NFL is so high on speed, that they often overlook the obvious: great route running, glue for hands, nice size, courage, technique, and football smarts. "Timing"? When the ball hits you in the hands and you drop it, that isn't timing. Quick simply doesn't seem to know how to adjust to balls. He doesn't have the instincts, and for his size, he doesn't fight for the ball. A perfect pass, lightly defended, has to be given to Quick.
