We can sit and debate it all day long. But obviously when the Rams brain trust goes out and signs a new LS and a new Kicker, all of their analysis says that the Holder is NOT the issue. In my armchair look at it, I see the ball coming back at different speeds, in different locations, which makes it pretty difficult on the Holder. McVay wants teachers who are relationship builders as coaches. They seem to take a systematic approach customized to each player in order to step by step bring them along. You can see what having 3 good TEs on the field plus a superior WR plus a superior receiving RB does to a D. Then throw in a Nacua that is a TE in a WR body and it really creates problems. With Nacua it might look like 12, but it is really 13 personnel in operation. By the end of the year, I expect Ferguson to be a tough out. The IR thing is pretty questionable, if you ask me. I suspect the the Cards have had about enough of Murray and will do what they can to unload him after the season. Take one in the 1st round in 2026, have him sit behind a Great QB in Stafford for a couple of years, and then start him. Of course my interest is that first round pick. When I look at Atlanta's schedule, I see 3 more wins: 2 times against the Saints, and once against the Jets. Outside of that, it would probably have to be upsets. So, Atlanta probably winds up at no more than 6 wins.That probably puts their top pick between 9 and 12. I have had difficulty figuring out why the process seems slow. Maybe I'm just kidding myself. But I think Karty's motion is on the slower side. But, it might be that the ball is getting into the holder's hands a bit too slow. One-tenth of a second might make a huge difference. But, is it the speed of the ball coming back? If Stafford commits to playing another year, or even two, then I would be open to using one of our 2 first round picks on a QB provided the Rams felt that player really had a chance to become a terrific QB. If he won't commit, then I'd use both, but with the same caveat. I think the Rams would NOT use a 1st round pick on a QB if Stafford offered them another year. I've been saying for awhile, arm wise, there is no reason Stafford can't play into his 40's. He could lose a little arm speed and still be a really good QB. Depending on the QB's style, there is probably no physical reason that a QB couldn't play until his early 40's... barring injuries. Washington was a one-trick pony in the name of Daniels. They just don't have the personnel to be competitive with the really good teams. And this really shows when depth is needed due to injury. Daniels has the body structure of an overgrown Tutu. He is not muscular, nor can he ever be. He is amazingly elusive, has a terrific arm. But, guys like this usually have a sustainability problem. And, it's one thing to play WR, but another when you play QB and to make big plays you have to be able to take hits. The giant athlete/runner/QBs like Allen can take the abuse. We have personnel on D that were brought here to stop the run. No one the Saints have compare in any way to McCaffery or Barkley. I think the Rams only hope that the Saints want to run a lot to protect their QB. On paper, the Rams should be able to stuff the running game. By all accounts, the Rams ought to thrash the Saints. But... this is the NFL. I've seen it too many times that potentially outmanned teams rise up and play like champions. Once a team establishes a losing culture, it is so hard to turn around. Clearly Mike McDonald doesn't have that ability. Who does? Someone who has lots of experience as a successful HC, and is a no nonsense guy usually has a better chance. There are exceptions to the rule like Sean McVay, of course, but those guys are rare. Verse is signed through the 27 season, and then the Rams have moves to not have to sign him big for another year or so. We'll have to see what happens.
