The teams can't line up over the Center and attack him. They can line up on a shoulder, for sure. But they also have to face a big, burly OL when they do. Look. Our new Kicker has kicked a lot of balls, and only recently. With good success. He can't worry about whether his protection does their job. He just needs to get it up in the air and straight. So, honestly, Karty needs some time toby RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
Can't blame the guy. Blocked kicks, the operation just not in synch. Every Kick is an adventure. New guy willl at least walk in with confidence from his previous job, having not faced the fiasco Karty did. Nothing to overcome.by RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
We can sit and debate it all day long. But obviously when the Rams brain trust goes out and signs a new LS and a new Kicker, all of their analysis says that the Holder is NOT the issue. In my armchair look at it, I see the ball coming back at different speeds, in different locations, which makes it pretty difficult on the Holder. I also see Karty waiting a beat too long to commence his leg sby RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
It's just like with TE . Who would have though of Ferguson? I think the Rams have their own unique way of evaluating what a Rams QB is. Just because the media thinks they know the QB order, or what other teams think, means very little.by RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
It begins with the Rams approach of patience, and not having immediate higher expectations of a player than the stage of their development allows. McVay wants teachers who are relationship builders as coaches. They seem to take a systematic approach customized to each player in order to step by step bring them along. I don't know what happened with Forbes at Washington. But clearly, theyby RockRam - Rams Chronicles
You can see what having 3 good TEs on the field plus a superior WR plus a superior receiving RB does to a D. Then throw in a Nacua that is a TE in a WR body and it really creates problems. With Nacua it might look like 12, but it is really 13 personnel in operation. By the end of the year, I expect Ferguson to be a tough out. He is indeed a TE version of Cooper Kupp.by RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
But, it would be counterproductive and very unMcVay like to fire an assistant coach mid season. Even when the kicking game was going well last year, our STs were mediocre at best. Rams are too good on O and D to have a poor STs.by RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
The IR thing is pretty questionable, if you ask me. I suspect the the Cards have had about enough of Murray and will do what they can to unload him after the season. This is one way to keep him healthy. His contract is going to be the big problem, but somebody like Cleveland or the Jets might take him on. That's about the kind of decisions they tend to make. Bad ones. Or, the Cards windby RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
Doesn't mean Hunter is a bust. But not good, either. Unless there is some serious flaw in him that hasn't been published, I imagine he'll have one more training camp to prove himself.... or... goodbye.by RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
The Rams believe in the players they have. They think as composed they have a Superbowl team. Otherwise they would have made a splash move. We need to factor in that probably in one month both Witherspoon and Tutu will be back and ready to go. Also, we have developed very good OL and DL depth. And we're sure aren't shabby at WR. What is fundamentally going to change things is our now 4by RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
This from an armchair fan only: What I would like to see is the Green Bay approach to QB. Take one in the 1st round in 2026, have him sit behind a Great QB in Stafford for a couple of years, and then start him. I could even seen the Rams do this: 2026, Stafford with new QB as 3rd string and Bennett as 2nd. 2027 Bennett as starteby RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
Of course my interest is that first round pick. When I look at Atlanta's schedule, I see 3 more wins: 2 times against the Saints, and once against the Jets. Outside of that, it would probably have to be upsets. So, Atlanta probably winds up at no more than 6 wins. That probably puts their top pick between 9 and 12. That is going to give the Rams a shot at a QB if they want one, or they arby RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
Just as players have to make instant judgment calls, so do refs. I'm actually amazed at how well they do. It was close, but it was a penalty. BY's helmet contact Shough's. Sometimes, though, there is nothing to be done about it. It just happens. And, you move on, which is what the Rams did.by RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
I have had difficulty figuring out why the process seems slow. Maybe I'm just kidding myself. But I think Karty's motion is on the slower side. But, it might be that the ball is getting into the holder's hands a bit too slow. One-tenth of a second might make a huge difference. But, is it the speed of the ball coming back? The slowness of the ball being grabbed and set into place by the hoby RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
Cut salary cap. Amass picks. But now they need a competant FO and HC with staff that knows how to develop players and has a real plan. The you-know-what in the punchbowl, however, will always be their owner. He excels in inserting himself and snatching defeat out of the jaws of victory.by RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
The issues are deep. First, Jones won't stop meddling with the team, just as Haslam won't in Cleveland. He is convinced he is a football savant.Sending the team's best player packing was personal, not a good football decision. It says a great deal to the other players, and none of it good. Second, picking Brian Schottenheimer for HC was never going to work. He was a marginal OC and just doesnby RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
If the predicted recovery goes right, then Witherspoon will be back as CB in about 3 more games. What a significant boost that will be to our secondary. And, in the next couple of weeks, you can bet that McCreary will folded into the mix.by RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
If Stafford commits to playing another year, or even two, then I would be open to using one of our 2 first round picks on a QB provided the Rams felt that player really had a chance to become a terrific QB. If he won't commit, then I'd use both, but with the same caveat. I think the Rams would NOT use a 1st round pick on a QB if Stafford offered them another year. But, they might use a 2ndby RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
I've been saying for awhile, arm wise, there is no reason Stafford can't play into his 40's. He could lose a little arm speed and still be a really good QB. Depending on the QB's style, there is probably no physical reason that a QB couldn't play until his early 40's... barring injuries. I think there has been a tradition that any QB past 33 or 34 is too old to play. Have a bad game.... tooby RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
Washington was a one-trick pony in the name of Daniels. They just don't have the personnel to be competitive with the really good teams. And this really shows when depth is needed due to injury. Last year was a one-off for the current composition of this team. The GM has some serious work ahead of him.by RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
Daniels has the body structure of an overgrown Tutu. He is not muscular, nor can he ever be. He is amazingly elusive, has a terrific arm. But, guys like this usually have a sustainability problem. And, it's one thing to play WR, but another when you play QB and to make big plays you have to be able to take hits. The giant athlete/runner/QBs like Allen can take the abuse. But Daniels has tby RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
We have personnel on D that were brought here to stop the run. No one the Saints have compare in any way to McCaffery or Barkley. I think the Rams only hope that the Saints want to run a lot to protect their QB. On paper, the Rams should be able to stuff the running game. And on paper, if the Rams can get a comfortable lead.... say 2 TDs.... and maintain it into the 3rd quarter, the Saiby RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
What if the Rams decide that with one more season of Stafford, their best moves are these: 1) Cut JG and elevate Bennett, thereby giving him even more development attention. 2) Assume that Benett, through 4 years of development, is ready to play as a starter. Certainly not as a star, but more than competant. 3) Use those 2 top draft picks not on a QB, but rather on really good players thatby RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
By all accounts, the Rams ought to thrash the Saints. But... this is the NFL. I've seen it too many times that potentially outmanned teams rise up and play like champions. While the overwhelming better team sleepwalks through it all. And, bam! Upset. Not predicting it. Just sayin' that if the Rams don't play well, they of course can lose. They don't have to play their "A" game, butby RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
Once a team establishes a losing culture, it is so hard to turn around. Clearly Mike McDonald doesn't have that ability. Who does? Someone who has lots of experience as a successful HC, and is a no nonsense guy usually has a better chance. There are exceptions to the rule like Sean McVay, of course, but those guys are rare. Mike McCarthy would be a good currently sidelined HC for Miamiby RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
Verse is signed through the 27 season, and then the Rams have moves to not have to sign him big for another year or so. We'll have to see what happens. But, to me, the guy they MUST sign to an extention is BY. He is playing lights out and might be the fastest OLB in the league. Great player. What a pick. And so far Stewart has also really shown up. We have a 2 headed.... and maybe 3by RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
Heck, Avilla's rookie year may have been his best so far. He was dominant. I know I don't need to explain what Nacua did. If the draft was redone, he'd have been a top 5 pick. Hunter? Obviously the other end of the scale or he'd be out there at least some times. Why has he not gained McVay's confidence? Have no idea. But clearly he has not.by RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
McVay made it clear that while DW might be questionable against the Saints, he should likely be good to go thereafter. And, yeah, wouldn 't shock me to see some McCreary play outside.by RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
