Quoteden-the-coach QuoteRams43 McVay took his sweet time in choosing these hires, and rightly so, but I am almost giddy at the thought of so many coaching upgrades coming in to teach these youngsters. From OC to waterboy I see upgrades almost everywhere I look. Hot Damn! I do believe it was a very calculated approach to get back to what McVay does best and that is teaching & developinby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
In some ways this will be the most interesting off season in a long time. We have a lot of young guys, rookies and 2nd year players that have a real shot at being in the rotation or even starting to start the season. Once the injuries hit as they always do we will see even more young guys that will have to step up and play. With all the new players and new coaches it will actually be fun toby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com

They’re committed to him contractually and he’s among ‘best 5’ of Boom, Jackson, Avila, Bruss or Anchrum or McClendon at RG, and Hav. QuoteRams43 QuoteLMU93 He finally started contributing the 2nd half of last year (17 catches the final 8 games) when injuries piled up. But I really can't see him being more than that situational, deep threat WR4 type player. 25 catches? That would be my guess. My take on Atwell is exactly the same as yours, 93. ‘Situational’ is a perfect word to describe Atwell. If you call splitting timeby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com

Toward the end of last year Tutu was on the field quite a bit and seemed to do fine. Tutu is the only WR we have that can really stretch the field. Kupp can go deep but he does it by somehow getting wide open when the defense is totally focused on where he. Jefferson also has shown he can get open but as the #2 guy the defense will be paying more attention to him. Tutu showed he could plaby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
He is big and he is powerful and quick on his feet. With Avila and Bruss the OL will be much bigger assuming Jackson grabs a spot too. I am excited to see how we do run blocking which really has not be a strong suit for a few years now.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Maybe the season before but I remember 67 and how great they were before but crapping the bed in the playoffs. Remember Deacon Jones & Fearsome Foursome and Roman Gabriel standing in the pocket with defensive players hanging off him.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Both of the Evans boys sound pretty good and should make for some good competition in the RB room. Other than Akers nobody has a job locked down though Williams probably has an head start on the 3rd down specialist role.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com

Great Post thanks. I really enjoy this board most for the outstanding knowledge and the thoughtful contributions that so many of you make. But there are times when the speed of life reached out and touches one of the Ram brotherhood on this board. In those moments we get to see the love and encouragement we have for each other and that is something special and something to cherish. Whenby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
What impresses me the most is the number of potential quality starters and high end reserves. We also have a lot of guys that are positionally flexible. Really other than Hav's and Allen we almost everyone can play more than 1 position. What I also like is the competition that will take place for playing time and being on the active roster. We have 2 starting quality LOT both of whom canby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com

I was rooting for McVay to hire Mike LaFleur and think it is the perfect match. The come from the Mike Shanahan West Coast Offense with McVay adding in a lot of Gruden. They had a previous tie in with his brother who was McVay's 1st offensive coordinator and he has a ton of experience especially when compared to Coen. I think McVay needs a guy who is smart like him who can help him to seby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteRams43 QuoteDavid Deacon I think you can look at the defense and see a bunch of question marks right now. We will have a bunch of unknown players in the rotation and some who have a bit of experience and the experience isn't all good. You never know how much improvement you will see with young guys. Just understanding how to call a play and then know what is supposed to happen once you call it seems really complicated. These guys need to process it instantly while surveilling the defense to seek if the play is and if it is right where to go with the ball. In a complicated offense with lots of options off of each play this must be very difficult especially for a rookie QB. Then once yoby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteLMU93 I liked Goff a lot overall. Still do, and I'm glad to see him succeeding in Detroit. He's one of the reasons they are favored to win the NFC North this year. But you're right. He had two very good seasons (2017 and 2018). McVay knew how to play to Goff's strengths. But give the kid credit. He was not just a "system QB." He was a very good QB those two years- a 101 QB ratiby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
I always look forward to Jourdan's articles. She is the main reason I subscribe to the Athletic as the writers for the Dodgers and Lakers are just okay. Not sure what anyone was expecting her to report on. Rams had a presser and said blah, blah, Blah. No news scoops there. She threw out a few tidbits but that's all she had, crumbs for the hungry. Anyway I find her to be very knowledby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Goff had 2 really great seasons then went into the dumpster. Relationship issues between McVay & Goff seemed to be at the heart of the matter. What is unfortunate is that the Rams didn't get the best out of Goff and had to trade him when his value was in the basement. I think in the heat of the situation they may have lost sight of the absolute need to make the QB successful above all elsby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Needing the CB to have breakout years is a no brainer as other than 1 draft pick we don't have anyone else who will be starting. If they don't break out is till be a UDFA or minimum FA picked of waivers. We will be counting on rookies and low round draft picks or UDFA from the previous year for the most part. If our defense is even middle of the road it will be a huge accomplishment.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteRams43 You can take that to the bank. I predict that Tomlinson will be Rams best CB from Day One. There, I said it. Kendrick might struggle to make the 53, tbh. Why didn't the Rams draft a CB higher up in the draft? Just about everyone on this board is scratching their heads wondering why, especially when it was a good year for CBs. QuoteRamsdude QuoteRams43 QuoteRamsdude Interesting thoughts from oldnotdead. :thumbsup I wonder how he feels about Morris's ability to "coach up" these new young guns or his ability or willingness to come up with a better scheme than the Charmin Shell? Not sure of the logic here. The offensive design is not the responsibility of the QB thought they may have input. The game plan isn't done by the QB. Blocking and blocking schemes are not the QB. Quality of OLine and RB is not the QB. Play calling is not the QB. I don't think looking at Stafford for a failed running game makes any sense. I remember how excited the Rams staff was that they got their guy. On of them actually jumped for joy into the pool. He is big, experienced at a major college and at a minimum will be a RT/G backup. Nothing to say he can't win the RG job outright. I think when they drafted him they thought he would be ready at some point during his first year.
