Ramsdude, If I ever fail to acknowledge you for posting these great transcripts just know that I read them, enjoyed them and I am thankful that you posted them. You make a great contribution to this board.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Puca had 2 big knocks against him: His 40 time and Injury history Well I saw a few plays on Sunday where he sure as Heck look awful fast. It is nice to see that the GPS readings confirm what I thought I was seeing. Snead is big in GPS versus 40 time. Anyway now way Puca lasts until the 5th round if he runs a 4.4by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Player Development has been a real strength under McVay but with all the vets and chasing the big prize I think it became less of a focus. This year McVay had to get back to basics and retooled his staff and the results so far are great. Rookies and 2nd year players are making great contributions on this team and we are in the playoff hunt. If we had a better kicker we would have 2 more wiby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Quoteheadslapper between the draft and the free agent signings and small trades the boys killed it, best year I have seen in a very very long time. Incredible from Whiterspoon to Dotson to Puka and Avila, Turner and Young are looking great, it is exciting Totally Agree. Also Morris is coaching up a bunch of youngsters who are playing really well. Also shout out to offensive line coach whoby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
I doubt the league sets the market for Guards based on PFF grades. Let's remember he wasn't going to start at Pitt. They knew him well and there must have been a reason. He came here in a trade at a price that was reasonable. He didn't win the starting job here for a few games. Yes he has played well but for what 5 or 6 games? Will the market for him go wild with his history and limby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Hoecht has play very well lately. He is setting the edge which prevents teams by going wide. He rushes that passer very well and plays the running game well. He had trouble covering TE's earlier in the season but that has not been a noticeable issue of late. Not sure exactly why that is. My guess is that they don't give him that responsibility anymore. Or perhaps it was just rare for hiby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
I am pretty sure that right now nobody on this board knows about what will happen with Bennett next season. It seems he has the talent to be a good backup but what his problem/injury is has been kept pretty quiet. We know McVay has talked to him a few times and says he is doing good. Other than that we don't know crap. We can speculate all we want and postulate what this all means fby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Thanks Aly always read your posts and enjoy them. Turner has impressed me the last few games and he is a real leader type. Williams is turning out to be much better than forecasted despite a lack of speed. Now if he can only stay healthy. I think the guys on the Edge have been much better holding the edge and not getting sucked in on fakes which has really helped the defense. Goodby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Great to read these transcriptsby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Turner has been playing at a really high level and looks to have the makings of a special player. Not bad for a kid considered a reach in the 3rd round. Really this has been a great draft and even the last pick Johnson is getting on the field as part of the DL rotation. I think there are going to be more of these guy emerging either latter this year or next year that will make a differenceby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
I have been a loyal fan since the mid 60's. Seen some of the greatest players ever to play the game on the Rams. Deacon, Merlin, Dickerson, Faulk, Warner, Bruce, Pace, Youngblood, Kupp, Donald and a bunch of others. I love this team right now as they seem to be emerging and getting better every game. While thee have been dark days or perhaps I should say dark decades I have always been aby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Thanks for posting I would much rather read the transcript than watch the video. I guess that makes me old.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
It was all about the cap and resetting things going forward. It allowed us to load up on young players and give them a shot at playing so they would be ready for next season. Notice we had a bunch of picks last year and are loaded up on picks this year. Notice we have a bunch of cap space available next season. We had a haul in last years draft and I expect the haul will be even bigby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
I agree we seem to have lost the running game. We have average backs and Williams has gotten hurt in both of his 2 seasons, our 2nd back is a journeyman. Our line is inconsistent at best when it comes to run blocking. Sure I would like to see a better running game but if you look at Detroit they have 2 really good backs that can both take it to the house.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Goff as we can see in Detroit and in his early years with the Rams is a very good QB. Maybe not great but good to very good. I am not sure what happened in LA but it seemed he was always under tremendous pressure both from the pass rush and the coach and he didn't do well under that pressure. Teams seemed to scheme the Rams differently and how we adjusted to the those schemes wasn't effectby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
I agree Wentz can be a winning QB in the right system and with the right coach. Rypien at best is a camp arm. Let's see of the Offensive line can get it together. They seemed to have regressed. Neither guy will do much if they can't get it together.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Dotson was a great pickup and it turns out he was really needed too. Hat's off to Snead for having the foresight to go bargain hunting right before cut down.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Before the season started I thought the offense would be playoff caliber and the defense would have issues. The defense has been really as good as I could hope for. With young players at just about every position except for AD and Fuller we have been surprisingly stout and shows promise to get better as these young guys get more experience. It's not like we don't have issues on defense but sby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Hoecht: He still gets sucked in and doesn't set the edge. My question is what the heck is he doing covering TE's anyway? How many edge rushers cover the TE in the league? Durant: The kid can't tackle. Not sure how he covers but he sure misses tackles that end up being 1st downs. Kendrick: I have actually seen him make some good plays and watched him get beat in the end Zone. Usuallby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Dead always enjoy your posts. I pretty much in line with all you wrote except for the draft stuff which I am pretty clueless about right now. It sure seems like we hit on a bunch of young players and filled a bunch of holes but there are still a bunch that need to be filled. I think the offensive line my still be jelling. Edge even with Young (great pick) is still an issue. Of course gby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Stafford biggest problem is the lack of an effective running game. We have what is essentially a decent #2 back as our starter and have gone up against some very tough defenses in Philly and SF. Again another game where there is too much pressure on the QB. A good running game helps that. So do some screens and mis direction plays. I think play calling could be much better.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Roman I agree with you. We don't have a star for the star position. Durant can't tackle to save his life and really hurt the defense multiple times. Is he really a cover guy? Well lets see if that is true. It may be time for Tomlinson to get on the field. At lease we know he can cover.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Dotson Trade was a big winner. Getting a solid starter at a position of need for just swapping late round picks is a huge winner. Plus Snead had a draft that may go down as historically great and he did it without a 1st round draft pick. They say it takes 3 years to fully evaluate a draft but the early returns say this was a great draft and we are only 4 games into the season. Who knowsby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
I think the only chance we have in beating the Eagles is in a shootout. That doesn't mean we abandon the running game which I is usually a big problem, especially for the defense who needs the offense to eat up time on the clock. But this offense should shine with all the nice shinny toys ready to play together for the first time this year. That offensive line has gotten better, except forby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Tutu has show a lot this year. Runs great routes and has great hands and we all know he is the fastest player on the team by a wide margin. He is our only true deep threat but I haven't seen enough of that yet. Perhaps with Kupp and Nuca both in the lineup they will draw the attention and Tutu will either be open deep or draw attention and opening up the intermediate routes. In the Seby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
My Thoughts so Far Stafford has been good Offensive Line has been mostly good except for Cinn game. They are starting to jell. RB: I give it an okay after yesterday. Below okay before that. Williams stepped up and Rivers produced yesterday which is hope for the future WR: Wow this unit looks strong. Puka what a find and Kupp is back either next week or the week after. TE:by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Both are great backs but when he was with the Panthers McCaffery was injured all the time. He is a tough runner but not a huge guy and he gets hurt. Taylor did bet bang up in one of his 2 seasons. Age and wear and tear and injury history favor Taylorby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Writing Williams off is a stretch. He is a 2nd year guy and has shown he is a capable of being a backup IMO. He can pass Block and has a nose for the goal line. The Rams problem is that as a starter is is very unproven and while he has some skills and some production he hasn't shown that he is ready to be a starter. The only reason he is starting is because Akers had his head up his buttby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Taylor for a second round pick is a good trade especially considering that we are so thin at RB. Not sure what the extension would look like but if the cap hit did come till next year this would seem like a reasonable trade. Williams has 2 drops in the last 2 games that really contributed to the losses. This is disappointing seeing how catching the ball out of the backfield was supposed toby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Gosh how quick we all are to write this kid off. We really don't have any good information just a bunch of speculation though admittedly some of it is an educated guess. Is he a wasted pick? Non of us knows that. The kid has a bunch of talent and has had a bunch of success in the past and that hasn't changed. All we know is that he has a sore shoulder and is dealing with some issues andby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
