A "QB room" consists of one guy who you hope will start every game, and play every snap, that matters. Ranking the "room" based on depth makes sense for most positions. For QB... not so much. So, yeah... the 49ers have the most established backup. Nobody hopes to play their backup.

Fiske dealt with a knee issue in the 2025 offseason and then had an oblique injury early in the year that probably hindered him a bit. Definitely had a downturn in production. Hopefully, this year he'll bounce back. I think there's a lot of talent there, and he certainly won't be the primary focus of opposing blocking schemes (whether or not Donald returns).

As I said, those would probably go mostly to Davis. What is noteworthy to me is that there is clearly a role for Donald that does not result in a diminished role for Turner, Ford or Fiske.

Somewhat odd path, as he played at four schools: Michigan, Charlotte, Colorado then Alabama. Nice measurables, sound fundamental skills noted in most scouting reports. I'd say that, given our need for quality special teams/coverage unit players, as well as our lack of established depth at ILB, he's got a shot of making the squad.
