I generally think this is true. The hard part in diagnosing is that Holmes is trying to build a team from the ground up so he just needs to pick solid contributors and depth. Snead has been trying to add to a super bowl contenting team. Very different objectives. In the 2021 draft, Holmes selected a cooper kupp/robert woods type inside receiver in 4th rounder in Aman Ra St. Brown froby BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
McVay definitely has some personality quirks we'll call them based on how he handled Goff and others. To me this looks like a situation where Akers said play me more or else. and McVay said "or else" and sent akers on time out to have a think. Akers realizes he gets no value sitting at home and is going to play ball for now. If he doesn't play much or the Rams keep losing, thby BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
Agreed break up your thoughts if possible ;-). Tutu is an easy cherry pick. My point is not that he was a bust, but that he was a boom/bust pick. The previous 4 years, the rams took well rounded WRs that can do a little bit of everything. Tutu was a swing at getting Tyrek Hill. The Lions took St. Brown who had question marks but he was a top 3 rookie WRs that most gave a comparison toby BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
Asked this before with no one answering. How much of this was Holmes/Agnew leaving? They were there in 2019. The lions have had a ton of rookies and UDFAs contributing the last 2 years, BUT they suck so is that just such a lower bar that rookies can and will contribute there. I'd also say that the Rams were in contention and so they were picking guys like tutu that are gadget playerby BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
Goff has 10 Game winning drives many with TDs. Stafford has 42 of them. 4x as many in 2x the years played. Meaning Stafford is twice as successful as Goff in Game Winning Drives.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
Interesting topic! I'd love to see the UDFAs also included as many have meaningful contributions and some are even starters if not on the Rams still. the other factor I'd love to compare is Holmes/Agnew with the Lions the last 2 years. Lot of UDFA contributors last year, but the Lions also have way less depth so easier for Holmes to bring in talent that can contribute immediately.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
I think a small part of it is the fact that it's the NFC title game. The stakes get higher and players go full force and follow through beyond what they should because they (to quote dan fouts) don't want to hold anything back.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
The Lions had the #6 class per this article. They had more capital, but it was also all the UDFAs that came in and contributed. Detroit lacked some serious depth, so the opportunities were far greater compared to the Super bowl ready Rams. I'm wondering your takes on how Holmes and Agnew leaving impacted this rating and if this trend will continue.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com

Quotemoklerman While those are good stats and a sobering comparison, the caveat is that Goff was doing them in meaningless games. His problems arose as the pressure did. He and Stafford both thrive under garbage time scenarios. Both struggle when the games are meaningful. I'm not sure I see it that way. Goff struggled in random games like Miami and the Jets, two pitiful games. He also strugby BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
stats Goff has outplayed most QBs his last 5 games since they got Reynolds and Aman-Ra looks like the next Cooper Kupp/Robert Woods. Despite missing his Pro Bowl Center, Pro Bowl TE, and a ton of injuries to the OL. This to a rookie HC and play caller in Dan Campbell....by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
The problem was Goff and not the OL... It was the OL coach and not the lack of dedicated OC/Playcaller. McVay fixed the problems in the off-season and now the Rams are back on top of the NFC west in a 12 win season and on their way to the super bowl again.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
My dad and I were having this same debate. Goff likely doesn't do what Stafford did in the 4th quarter, but he likely doesn't do what Stafford did in the 1st half either. You are right that Stafford seems to be most comfortable as the under dog coming from behind. He's a home run hitter that will get hot and cold. Gotta hope that McVay is the right guy to get his best when the playoffby BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
Craig Reynolds the RB got over 100 yards tonight as the 5th string RB. Josh Reynolds, the former Rams WR got 68 yards and a TD. Rams put in a waiver for him about 5 weeks ago when Woods got hurt but Lions had the higher claim. I think the Rams should have traded Reed for Craig Reynolds before the season started. Both teams would have benefited.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
Reynolds has been awesome for the Lions the last 2 weeks. Definitely could have been picked up by the Ramsby BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
If the rams are more successful with Stafford, Goff was just a stepping stone. If Stafford can’t get them there and the rams start declining due to all the mortgaging Snead has done, then there is a chance that Goff is remembered as the good old days.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
The gist I take away from this is that in McVay's offense, when it is a known passing situation, the offense performs below average. We've seen this in the fact that McVay's offense struggles to come from behind. When the run is working, these kinds of situations are not 'known' passing attempts.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
Thank you, good share! I also liked this referenced chart: I bet if they update it for 2021, Stafford has dropped dramatically in this offense.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com

Last year the Rams were #5 (52.76%) behind the #1 Packers. This year they are #29 (46.7%). In their last 3 games where they lost, the Rams are only 40.91% ToP. Against the packers it was 33.89%. https://www.teamrankings.com/nfl/stat/time-of-possession-pct-net-of-ot#:~:text=NFL%20Team%20Time%20of%20Possession%20Percentage%20(Excluding%20OT),%20%2040.19%%20%2028%20more%20rows%20 Time of Pby BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
From what I’ve seen on the lions board, this is typical Stafford… He does well against poor defenses but struggles in big games against winning teams. Rams didn’t play a lot of those in first half of the season. Here is bleacher report with their takehttps://youtu.be/3aBweQpOs9kby BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
#1 Turf is becoming more prevalent with time as it is easier to maintain. Turf doesn't give the same way and can contribute more injuries. #2 Shoes have become increasingly cheaper made without proper orthotic support. I'd like to think that professional athletes have top equipment with the proper inserts and alignment over off the shelf Nike cleats. Forgot to mention that a guy Pleasant inherited in Tracy Walker is as of right now the #2 safety in the NFL.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
I disagree on the Lions secondary and Pleasant portion. The Lions have lost the top 2 CBs going into the season to injury. They are now playing 3 UDFA guys at corner and nickel. 2 of them are rookies. The Lions defense is playing 5 rookies overall, most in the NFL and it shows. Those rookies are certainly getting exploited some like Long jr. and to some extent Rochelle. They are aby BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
If I remember correctly, Brown had just been activated in his first game which was the Rams game. His timing with Brady was off and he had 2 drops. This did contribute to the Bucs offense struggling and the Rams getting off to a hot start. He is a good outlet/deep outside option for Brady that is hard to cover when his timing is there.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
He was a championship wrestler much like Alex Mack (now with the 49ers). Wrestlers understand leverage far better than any normal lineman. Allen saw he had leverage there and took quick advantage. I don't think he will ever be overpowering, but he can win a lot of battles other centers wouldn't.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
Do you have a link? This is from Detroitlions.com 9 hours ago. He probably has some kind of lingering ankle injury that he can play through but lions are hoping to get him 100%. Says he can play but needs to confirm he is in playing shape:by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
Stafford Struggles Rocks... Glass Houses. It's the preseason. Sure there are excuses for Stafford like they were tipped balls and he was trying new things (his words). People will find whatever angle they want to fit their expected narrative. Thank God we are almost to the regular season and don't have to speculate on practice interceptions.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
This is the guy I'd think the Rams would want: Craig Reynolds. He's been the highest PFF RB in the preseason (much like Reed has been one of the highest Safeties). He's gone against 3rd and 4th stringers so there is a lot of unknown. His size and speed is very good at 5'11 225 and he's been unstoppable even behind a very poor second string OL. Comes from a D2?
