Couple of questions regarding two Bama players (yes, I'm a homer for my college team too!) 1) What is your assessment (strengths/weaknesses) of Simpson and his progression this year? Improving ball accuracy and rotation are almost certainly the primary reason for bringing in McQuaide. Wondering whether Ward's post-snap blocking is also a concern for Rams coaches. Seems like Ward was overwhelmed by Dline on one or more kicks early in the season. I suspect Rams leadership and Stafford have already discussed his future plans. Downstream from this conversation, I also suspect the Rams have put a plan in place for 2026/2027. Scouting (college, pro) department is placing special emphasis on evaluating potential future Rams based on this discussion. Splitting hairs. Main point is that Blackburn is unable to isolate and/or correct FG kicking. Clearly blocking is an issue, ball placement is an issue, and slow approach is an issue. We can't address whether Karty can be fixed until the blocking/holding issues have been resolved. Since the Titans game I've been down on Forbes. IMO he's shown poor coverage technique and lacked physicality. Certainly not a shutdown CB some hoped the Rams were getting. With that being said, believe Forbes deserves credit for noticeable improvement during the London game. Much improved physicality in run support and tackling. I've been contemplating a theory. Are Rams playing a vanilla 2 deep shell to start games? Intent being our D coaches want to see how the opponent has game planned against the Rams. Basically, our D coaches are gathering real-time film that allows them to counter punch against run blocking and pass route schemes. Until this play, I hadn't been tracking the Rams punt team OL personnel. But now have some questions. - Is it strange to anyone else that an ILB is playing Guard on a punt team? - Is this typical with other NFL teams? - Wouldn't a smaller/lighter player at Guard be vulnerable to being overwhelmed if opposing team attempts a blocked punt? - Was this Dolac's first game at this position? Can someone please explain why Stafford/McVay chose to kick off in OT rather than receive? I just don't understand the logic. Stafford and the O were shredding the Niners in 4th quarter. Said the same thing about Forbes after the Titans game. He looks the part, but doesn't play the part. Rams have created a top-level team by giving opportunities to guys who play the part, regardless of measurables. Forbes is not a lost cause, but his on-field performance definitely needs to take one or two steps forward before I'd consider him a starting NFL CB.by BamRam - RamsFootballFans.com

Couple things I didn't see while at game but noticed while rewatchin game on TV. Davis Allen - the play before he scores touchdown, Corrum has a big run to right side. Allen blocks the LB and pushes him 10 yds back. He's reason for the big gain. Parkinson who? Forbes Jr - just not a starter yet. Poor coverage technique at times and gets beat watching QB too much. Eagles running attack is exactly the reason Rams brought in Ford and Landman. This game is going to be an early indicator of whether Rams chose correctly, or not. My 25-year-old daughter's a new football (and Rams) fan. I've had fun teaching her about the game. On a long drive home a few months ago, I quizzed her on the name of offensive and defensive position. She only knows the name of about 3 NFL players (Stafford, Nacua, Kupp) and is in love with McVay. What's the consensus on Valcarcel and Ingle? Valcarcel has gotten lots of reps and to my eyes performed pretty well in coverage. Ingle hits like a truck but often seems to arrive late in coverage. Yep. Two of those Tier 3 teams (Chiefs, Commanders) made it to the conference championship game. Think this speaks to how a generational quarterback can help their team overcome a more physical team. In many ways good Stafford does the same for the Rams. He played out of his mind during the 21 playoffs even though the Rams were less physical than other teams.
