Using an iPhone to post pics on The Original Herd

If there's a pic on your phone that you want to include in a post but it won't post because the pic is too big, these instructions should help you.

How to reduce photo file size on iPhone

1. Find the photo you want to use in your photo library. Swipe up on the photo so you can see the file size. Tap on the Share Icon at lower left.





2. Swipe up and hit “Save to Files”. Browse folders (if you have any) and choose one if you want to save your file to one. If not, just hit “Save Here”.
3. Swipe to the right to reach you App Library and open the Files app. If you saved your image to a folder, open the folder.
4. Press and hold on the file you saved you will see Quick Actions near the bottom. Open Quick Actions and then hit Convert Image.
5. Select JPEG and then to reduce the file size, select small or medium. The original photo was 1.5 MB but these instructions reduced it to 67 KB
6. To attach the reduced pic on your iPhone to your post on The Original Herd:
.........6a. Compose a new message
.........6b. Select your iPhone pic by choosing Choose File, not Photo Library. Then select the pic from your Files app and then hit the blue ATTACH button.
.........6c. Post Message

How to attach a photo from the Internet to use in your post when using an iPhone

To attach a pic from the internet to your post, you first have to save it to your phone. I don't believe there's a way to do a copy/paste directly from the Internet to your post. Not when using an iPhone. You'll have to save it to your phone first.

1. Using the Google app on your phone, find the pic on the Internet that you want to use in your post
2. Touch the pic until a menu opens up (Share, Save to Photos, Copy, Copy Subject, Look Up)
3. Select Save to Photos then complete step 6 above.

If there are other ways to accomplish these tasks, please share. What I know is that these instructions worked for me!
