Saturday Night Fever was all about the dancing and soundtrack. The plot was actually kind of weak. I saw it in a theater when it first came out, and I watched it again just a few weeks ago, so it's not a movie I hated but if you strip it down to just plot, it was pretty meh. The acting was good, the dancing was good, and the music was good for disco.
Grease was a MUCH better movie. Has some great songs in it, and actually has a story that I guess you could call "cute". Couldn't tell you how many times I've watched it, but I always was kind of an Olivia Newton-John fan, and Travolta fan to a lesser extent. It has some pretty funny places too, and as someone said above it is supposed to be campy.
But that doesn't mean you should watch them or would enjoy them.... different people, different tastes. I never had any interest in Heavy Metal music, but that doesn't make me a bad person. Or maybe I should say THAT is not what makes me a bad person.
