Although I certainly don't read as much as I used to. In the 70's, 80', 90's... I would often read maybe 3 novels a week.... didn't sleep much in those days.
I read less fiction now... for whatever reason.... in fact that makes no sense to me because in general I prefer fiction. I think I have a little Ramgator in me... with him it's WWII and for me it's the Civil War. I'm reading a Civil War book, non-fiction, this morning.
I read JAWS, btw.... but only once and it was immediately following my viewing of the movie. Loving the movie but being more of a reader I figured the book would be even better.... and maybe it was but I can't remember now.
There have been a handful of books that I got so absorbed in from the first page that I read them in their entirety in one sitting, (or laying). The Exorcist was like that for me. Also Lonesome Dove. Quite a few others but I'm not going to try to bring them to mind. - JamesJM
