Some of those temp swings you have posted astound me.... like 95 one day and 65 the next? I don't think we've ever had a swing like that, or even close to that. When it's hot it's hot... dropping 10º in a day here is a major weather event.
BTW.. if you have a good memory you'll remember me posting this... hardest rain I was ever in was in Tucumcari New Mexico. I think they get only very little rain in an entire year but on my motorcycle trip back to see the Rams in St. L it came down so hard when I was nearing Tucumcari I had to pull off the road and take cover. But there was also lightening hitting very near me. I pulled under a carport at a motel and waiting it out. I was in awe... I think that one storm dropped more rain in about ½ hour than we get in 10 years!!!
I also remember, another motorcycle trip, passing from Louisiana to Texas and hearing that... I think it was Houston? Maybe Galveston... was expected to get 12" in one storm... I think our yearly average is under 10". I didn't get hit with that one.
One think I believe, (could be wrong again), that you have an advantage over us with regarding weather is in Texas you can see storms coming from like a hundred miles away! Not so here... the coast range is only 26 miles from me, (as the crow flies), so storms can sneak up on us.
