'78 or '79, as I covered them for the local paper and I quit the newspaper in early '80.. There's quite a few bands that should have done better, but label disputes screwed their careers up.. my favorite being Wrathchild UK, who got in a name disputer with Wrathchild America and were forced for 3 years to not function as a band.. so, at the height of the music period they would have probably gotten famous in, they weren't allowed to play or record..
Both bands were named Wrathchild and after 3 years of legal battle, changed their names to Wrathchild UK and Wrathchild America.. Both bands had promising futures.. both bands didn't really survive the 3 year legal battle..
I'm good friends with the UK guys - I really feel for them as they were HUGE in England with this happened..
Friendship is like peeing your pants.. Everybody can see it, but only you can feel the warmth..
