Locally that pulls 10K, because its the huge rivalry.. that the city has trying to do away with for decades, even though its a HUGE money maker.. back in the day, Raiders would run dead coyotes up our flagpole in front of the school.. I think once the Coyotes had had enough and drug a dead horse in front of Rider's front doors - their mascot was a Raider dude on a horse.. All kinds of shoe polishing and minor issues every week of the rivalry every year..
School district tried making it the first game of the year - normally it was the LAST game of the year and, quite often, the winner of the game went to postseason and the loser went home.. so, they tried making it the first game - that was a wash.. put it back to the last game.. then did away with both schools and put it back to the first game.. the city is a joke.. the harder they tried to stop it, the more people revolted.. will be fun to see what happens next year at the last ever game of the existing local high schools..
I sure hope they have a plan for replacing the BUCKET LOADS of cash those games and alumni of each school donated.. because with two new high schools with NO alumni, NOBODY will go to any of the games except existing students nd family.. they better get used to 200 people in the stands for each game.. still makes me sick..
Friendship is like peeing your pants.. Everybody can see it, but only you can feel the warmth..
