Part of getting older and things looked better in the rear view mirror.
The Pac 12 has never been as powerful as either the SEC or the Big Ten-in terms of media exposure-meaning "money". Games on the west coast are more often at night here and most of east just don't want to stay up late at night to watch UCLA v Washington, etc. I think the Pac 12 earned something like 22 million last year whereas the Big Ten earned roughly 80 million. Their games can be seen on the west coast as early as 9: am and run throughout the Saturday daytime.
More money for recruiting, coaching (i.e. Lincoln Riley) and more exposure to the "student" players in term their "brands" and "image likeness", etc. The downside of course will be the travel time and many more hours for the Bruin and Trojan players in the air impacting not only the health of everyone but also the air quality with more and more jet travel. But money speaks to power. Sad.
"Times-they are a changin." I just might write a song with those words in it.
