After posting that I went on a Nat listening binge. 
In doing so it brought back a very old memory.
Some of his songs I can remember hearing when I was very, VERY young, early 50's for sure, while playing around house/yard. My Mom listened to him.... so the only explanation I have is that she must have owned several of his records and played them on our old record player. Radio would have been unlikely in the early 50's... few stations where I grew up. Even as young as I was I can remember thinking Nat's voice was as pleasing to the ear as any voice I've ever heard... before - then - or since. - JamesJM
