but my ranch is loaded with quail. I've been hunting with people that had trained hunting dogs but I've never owned a 'trained' one myself. I did own a Vizsla and frankly... his instincts for hunting were so strong I really didn't need to train him. BUT.. never took him to my ranch for quail. I did take him dove hunting a few times and that didn't turn out too well... I mean, he was fantastic but he kept giving me that a look... like, "you're not very good at this are you?".
So that might be fun, hunting... but mostly I just want a companion. When I bought the Vizsla it was from my cousin who DID train hunting dogs. He had both Vizla's and English Springer Spaniels and i had my choice of one or the other... untrained.
Pretty sure I've written this before... and note: I've never owned an English Springer Spaniel and I hear they compare to Vizla's for intelligence. Mine, Lucca, was so smart it unnerved me a little. I think he was about 6, maybe 8, weeks old when I decided to see if I could teach him to sit, stay, and come. It took me less than 10 minutes. I kid you not. And he never forgot iit, even though I seldom required him to sit/stay/come.
Yes, like to hear who the guy is you know... but again, not really looking for a trained hunting dog if that's all he does... If he sells non-trained then yeah... I'm interested. - JamesJM
