For those of you who don't know.... De La Salle is one of the strongest HS football teams, year in and year out, in the nation. Several National Championships. A movie was made about them.

Our new HC played for that team the movie featured... so he set this up. His reasoning: He wants our players to adopt a new attitude.. an attitude that will hopefully bring new dedication and effort from our players.. to experience what it's like be have a 'winning attitude'. Will it work?

I don't know... but I should explain... this will be a 7 on 7 match, not an actual game. (Thank God). 7 on 7 is passing, (runs are allowed but that differs from one 7 on 7 tourney to another).. and no contact. Although yes, incidental contact is unavoidable. Injuries actually run pretty high... not like a regular game but still high.

The boys on our team here that I have spoken to about it are very excited, while fullly aware they'll probably get killed. laughing smiley Actually there is no 'probably' about it.

My grandson has been playing against some of the top Calif. HS football players all spring... again, 7 on 7 and mostly as receiver, not QB... which he will most likely play for our football team this his Sr. year.

I'm not sure what I think about it. I understand the coaches reasoning... but De La Salle? That's one huge leap up. - JamesJM
