Back in the late 70s, PBS used to broadcast "Soccer Made In Germany". My Bud liked Soccer. I never did. But one day I was at his house and it was on and he was watching. I was about 10 and he was 8. The Announcer....I am almost CERTAIN was the guy announcing in the Stallone flick, "Victory" from 1981. ANYWAY.....We were watching a match when a MAJOR brawl broke out. One of the players grabbed a stick , pipe or something to chase another player. The Announcer started YELLING........ "HE'S GOT AN OBJECT!!!!! HE'S GOT AN OBJECT!!!!" LOLOLOL O....M...G We started CRAAAAACKING UP!!!! Geesh! That was probably Spring / Summer 1978?? From THAT day on, we almost NEVER said "Hey, Hello, What's Up etc..... Our greeting was ALWAYS........."HE'S GOT AN OBJECT!!!!!!" CRAP!! I was a Senior on our High School Baseball team and he was a Sophmore. When I'd grab a bat to go hit, he'd yell...and as I stood in the batter's box....HE'S GOT AN OBJECT!!! We were both in our 40s when he passed and it was STILL our greeting. At his Funeral, when one of the Army Color Guard guys raised his rifle........Yep! The greeting crossed my mind. As I did a DAMN good job of holding back a smile or laugh, I could hear my Bud CRAAAAAAAAAAACKING UP! His cremated remains are at the Jacksonville National Cemetery.... just a row or two from my Dad. I REFUSE to go to his spot and NOT say.....HE'S GOT AN OBJECT!!!
