The games drag out toooo long (More of a Network blame, I must say) But the quality of the game has sunk. It has been nothing but HR Derby for the last 20-30 years. THAT has turned away older fans who would pass it down to their kids. There are a few Youtube videos with Pete Rose. I HIGHLY recommend them. Pete knows a helluva lot more than I do. He touches on the issues. And is SPOT ON, IMO.
Just about every sport I started watching was because of my Dad. If he hated baseball or football, there would be a much better chance that I would tune it out. I will definitely agree that the fact that kids sit on their a$$es more and hardly ever even throw a baseball much less play the game, is a huge issue also. I honestly cannot recall the last time I saw a group of kids playing a pick up game of baseball or even stick ball. Outside of my two boys and my two Step Sons, I bet it has been 30+ years since I saw it.
