I seldom us catsup on fries these days. I never add steak sauce to steak. I never did add anything to eggs... when I see people smother their eggs in catsup I do not get it.
German food... very underrated, IMHO. As you know I lived in Germany for a while, as did Rambeau... loved their food, especially their bread. And no one, as in NO ONE, does Pork better than Germans.
I never ever use Mayo or Ketchup as a condiment on a burger, hot dog, or sandwich or as any kind of dip... for fries, etc. The ONLY exception is if I make a tuna salad sandwich, then I'll use No Fat Miracle Whip when I mix the tuna, relish, onion, and boiled egg.
