Me, my Dad and my Brother were putting up our Christmas tree. THEN, I was a Miami Dolphins fans and so was my Brother and Dad. The Rams / Cowboys playoff game was on. I was more excited to put up our tree BUT......I HAAAAATED Dallas!!! I asked my Dad if the Rams could beat Dallas. I was a very casual fan back then. I was only 9. Dad says......EEEEHHHHHHHHHHHH! Dallas is at home so probably not. As the afternoon went on, the game stayed close. THEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEN.....My Brother says....."I LOVE the look of the Rams jerseys." I remember THAT like yesterday. Being he was 6 years older and I VERY much looked up to him, I thought.....Yeah....They do look cool. I remember Pat Haden scoring a TD and my Dad and Brother commenting about the Rams giving Dallas a heckuva game. SUDDENLY, I found myself REALLY interested. I REALLY wanted the Rams to win. The only two other plays I remember is the Rams stopping Billy Joe Dupree just INCHES on 4th down and then the Rams took a Safety to seal it. Rams won 14 to 12. My Dad made a comment that I resembled Pat Haden. Hence why to THIS day, #11 is MY number on my jersey (Even though Jim Everett is still my fav Ram Q
My Dad asked me......You liked that, didn't you??? (Rams beating Dallas) I just gave a big grin and said "YEEEEESSS!" A few days later, I got my first SEARS catalog Rams shirt for Christmas!!! Almost 45 years later????? HERE I AM!!!! The Rams are a BIG BIG BIG passion of mine. I OFTEN think about the same question of this post and then think of my Brother and Dad. My Brother passed in May 2011 and my Dad in Aug 2013. 19 Dec 1976 was a very special day.
