Movies today have to suit the audience. And with today's society??? It shows! Everything has to be NON STOP video game like explosions and violence with zero substance. Can imagine WHY Fast N Furious 139 is being released.
It REALLY shows with Horror flicks. Nothing but jump scares because the flicks have almost zero atmosphere. I have always said the ORIGINAL "The Fog" has great atmosphere. "The Others" with Nicole Kidman is great too.
Back to Jaws.....I cannot tell you how many times over the last 35 years I have seen it at a Fire Station and the classic Quint scene about the Indianapolis stops everyone in their tracks. That scene came across as a creepy ghost story but it was a factual event.
