He was 77. 45-50 years later, I STILL call "Emergency" the best Fire Dept TV show. I can attest first hand. There were LOTS of Chet's in my career. Made the job fun. Donnelly was also in an episode or two of another fav of mine..."Dragnet". Jack Webb, of Dragnet, pretty much created "Emergency" I always appreciated Webb's respect for First Responders. He TOTALLY understood the intangibles of what it's like.
