Wow.. that's definitely in line with some of the national acts we opened for back in the 80's.. prima donnas, but not necessarily al that big to begin with.. I know that we LOVED every second we got to play rock star while eating their catered foods and drinking their catered beer and stuff, which made it easier, but some of those guys needed a SERIOUS ass kicking..
That doesn't surprise me about Dwight.. Funny thing: I didn't even know what he looked like before the show.. I'm sure I've seen him in photos or movies, but I couldn't get a mental image of him.. I figured once he took the stage I'd go, "oh yeah - that punk"...
Well, he takes the stage, but had his hat down SO low over his balding head that the shadow from the hat totally obscured his face - and we were front row.. Like I've said, he brought no lights, so only had the built in overhead auditorium lights.. which only stayed "on" the entire show - didn't even move them, change them, or shut them off between songs - because he didn't even had a spotlight.. So, just a poor excuse for lighting fr a show that tix started at $100 a pop..
So, until we got home and I looked him up, I never was able to actually tell who he was during the show.. People sat down the entire show - he never got anyone moving, or even standing up.. Modest applause after every song - even his hits.. I was shocked he did an encore because I was surprised people cheered for one..
Friendship is like peeing your pants.. Everybody can see it, but only you can feel the warmth..
