Forgive me if I am out of line here. But I kind of always felt that eating animals you raised that you had to not allow yourself to get attached and be able to justify killing them.
Like many people, I am pro animal rights. But I am also pro carnivore. I can sit here and say I could kill a chicken for food all day long but if I picked that chicken up in any kind of "who's a good chicken, you're a good chicken" fashion, I couldn't do it. Feeding and raising it... I would have to stay emotionally detached. My grandmother would go out and grab one of her chickens and chop its head off... and we would eat it later that night.
I don't think I could kill a cow. Hmm. Fish/Seafood and chicken. Really if it has fur I can't kill it. Scales and feathers are game... literally. That said I do eat beef and venison. I kind of feel like I am a carnivore and those are prey animals. I love hunting but not killing. I guess I am like a well fed cat who likes to catch mice but not eat them. haha
