but after reading it I quickly, not very thoroughly, brought up a list of bands from the 60's to note who I saw in person. It depressed me... here's why...
In those days I was at a music concert almost weekly.. this beginning maybe in '64? It was common for my friends and I to set off for San Francisco every weekend to attend a concert. Well, here comes the depressing part:
I can't really recall all the bands I've seen. Example: The Kinks... I seem to remember seeing them, but I'm not sure. I'm not sure they ever played in Calif actually. Why I 'seem' to remember seeing them I don't know.
Without any doubt my biggest concert seen live was Monterey Pop '67. Otis Redding was my hero in those days.... and the truth be known I was looking forward to seeing him a lot more than seeing Jimi Hendrix. (don't get me wrong, loved Hendrix). Remember the "Association"? I played with them a few times.. NO, not in concert.. Jam sessions. There was a local band around here that knew them well... "The Road Runners"... 21Dog will remember them.
Anyway... damn shame I didn't write this all down at the time. These days if asked I have to reply, "yeah, saw them.. no, wait... maybe... yes, no, hell I can't remember".
