Been in a cage with whites (you know that); been in open water with Tiger sharks and bull sharks. Bull sharks were the scariest. When they come straight at you they look just like white shark as they have this big wide head. In 1988 we were in Florida off Islamorada for a two day spear fishing contest. Saw more than just a few. I've seen two Tigers in my life-both off Socorro Island. They were wusses compared to the Bull sharks although a friend jumped off a dingy right on top of one that was right below. He came back into the dingy as fast as he went in.
I think your nuts if you want to swim with a great white-not me no how! I think Kimi was nuts too. Another friend of mine was hit by a great white while free diving at Guadalupe Island. The fish bit him in the ankle and he bled out by the time they got him back on the boat. Unfortunately his young son was on board and saw everything.
I will say this. If I'm diving with SCUBA I always feel comfortable around these guys. . Something about being on the bottom feels a lot safer than if your on the surface in open water free diving for fish. The exception-white sharks. If I'm about to jump in and someone says don't be surprised to see a white shark my response is to open a bottle of wine and say "go ahead have at it".
