Yeah, I figured it out about 2 weeks..

after I got the VertiBird.. Like you, my mom was tired of buying batteries and I played with it non-stop.. I had the transformer for the trains and decided to experiment at low power.. Eventually I figured about half power was perfect.. Full power was fun - don't get me wrong, but I knew running it like that would tear up the cable...

Yup - had a hook and a guy holding a big circle thingy that you could pick up.. that Vertibird was my BB gun - best present I ever got, or ever will get...
