I agree there appears to be little risk associated with the vaccine(s). As such I didnt comment on the risk of a vaccine. I was referring to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released new guidelines for mask wearing and its relationship to the science behind it which was the point of the posted article.

Further, last I checked the CDC is part of the federal government and they are issuing guidelines for the states and local communities in this country. And per usual (which is my point) they use very conservative estimates to develop those guidelines.

My way? What is my way? I dont have a way nor did I propose a way. But I think its odd that you dont see any examples of different medical communities doing things differently? Is Florida doing things the same way Maryland is? Is Texas? Is California? Bringing it back to football some states allowed fans, others didnt. And thats only this country. If you think everyone is doing the exact same thing I would encourage you to get out more.

the federal government y constantly uses very conservative estimates in assessing risk and offering guidelines. not to get too off track but a good example is the federal guidelines on cooking red meat. The federal government tells you that red meat must be cooked to 145 degrees in order to be considered "safe" to eat. the reality is that a good rare steak can and should (imo) be cooked to an internal temp of 120 degrees. is 145 "more safe" yes, but an internal temp of 120 degrees is more then safe. so like masks, herd immunity, etc, the question is how much risk does one want to take and then what guidelines do you propose base on those assumptions of risk.

Except there is no risk to being vaccinated (or rather it's massively tiny) and there is risk in a population not being vaccinated.

Plus this idea that what we're dealing with is "the federal government," is not really the case. The information on covid, vaccines, and herd immunity all comes from several global established medical communities. When you hear a concert of these established medical institutions complaining that US federal government has it wrong, worry then. Until that happens such worries are just a distraction from the real issues.

IMO of course. cool smiley

I don't see any examples of different national medical communities around the world doing it your way, and, maybe if there were some, you would have a case.
