I totally missed The Waltons when it was on back in the 70's. But I've been watching it over the past couple of months and I'm finally on season 9, the last season. After that, I'll have six made-for-tv reunion movies to watch before I'm all caught up and I can add The Waltons to my list of favorite tv shows of all time. I absolutely love, love, LOVE the show, especially the first 5 seasons. It just wasn't the same after the departure of Richard Thomas (John-Boy), Michael Learned (Olivia), and Ellen Corby (Grandma). It wasn't excellent but it was still enjoyable. Because the series was a "period" show taking place from 1933-right after World War II, you can't tell that the series was filmed almost 50 years ago. The stories were good and they touched on a wide range of subjects... many of them still timely and still relevant today. I'm so glad I finally watched it.
