Since I have followed the Cubs and baseball in general...close to 40 years....the Cards almost ALWAYS are in the thick of things. I have always liked FUNDAMENTAL baseball. Something my High School Coach DEMANDED. I used to follow the Royals when Jacksonville was their AA team . So I was happy when they won the 1985 WS BUT.....I know the Cards got screwed. In fact, the Royals had another TERRIBLE call at 1st go their way in the ALCS vs Toronto. In all of my years watching MLB, I have said those mid 80s Cards teams were maybe THE best fundamental ballers I have ever seen. The amount of pressure they'd put on a team if the leadoff guy in an inning got on was unbelievable! ESPECIALLY if it was Coleman or McGee.
