Tony LaRussa used to say that if an MLB team wins about half their series, they'll make the playoffs. To see if he was right, I began pulling data for every Cardinals season going back to 1998 to see for myself how true his statement was. Well, LaRussa was right. When the Cardinals win about 55% of their series, they're usually in the playoffs. So, I've been keeping a running tally every season so that I can see whether or not it's likely we'll make the playoffs or not. 162 games is a long season and we're playing game 25 today. However we're getting off to an abysmal start having only won 2 out of 8 series so far. In the past 21 years, Cardinals have made the playoffs 15 times and won the WS twice.
