There were several planes from the era that I couldn't identify and we didn't have time to read all the stuff on each one, but in having searched for that info for you way back when, I didn't see anything that I recognized.. do you know, for sure, that they had one? Or were hoping they had one?
I did talk to one of the vets volunteering or working there and he knew EVERY story about every plane.. Gator they had a plane like one used in the Doolittle Raids and the guy told me they had so little fuel leeway that, on the carrier, if they had ANY troubles starting or moving a plane for takeoff, they would just shove that plane overboard to get it out of the way.. the number 7 plane in line couldn't get the number 2 engine started and was getting the signal to get out so they would chunk his plane overboard, then it fired to life, but in the confusion, the guy forgot to extend his flaps for take off, so as soon as he left the carrier, he went down and skimmed the water and almost ditched in the ocean.. that guy went on to do the raid, then wrote the book 30 Seconds Over Tokyo...
