I'm the only person alive today who is not an expert on nutrition... so take that into consideration.
I don't believe in no "whatever" for good reason - it doesn't work for me. These days I'm a couch potato... but until a few years ago I was a workout fanatic. My input is based on those workout years... decades. I needed it all... carbs, protein, you name it.
When I tried to go no carbs my workouts suffered. When I tried going without protein from red meat my workouts suffered. What surprised me the most, however, was how little of those things I actually needed. For example - red meat I could get by with 1 or 2 servings per week.... Carbs I needed most every day but in very low quantity.
I had to have balance, but size portions I could cut drastically with no ill effect.
The no 'whatever' did not work and I'm not just talking weight... workout performance drop off was in your face noticeable. - JamesJM
