1) You will not risk the serious and permanent symptoms that can impact your life. Moreover, you will not risk being one of over half a million people have died from the virus.
2) Should you carry the virus your vaccination will prevent you from passing it on to another who, if not vaccinated, could well become seriously sick with permanent lasting symptoms that they must live with the rest of their lives (lasting pulmonary damage affecting lung capacity) and even risk dying.
The first is a "benefit" to yourself and the second is a "benefit" to others you are in contact with.
I understand how some might want to chance the odds for themselves that if they get the virus they may not have lasting permanent effects but by not being vaccinated you are seriously risking the health of others who may not enjoy the comfort of the odds and are not willing to take that risk. Simply put vaccinations are designed to protect yourself and others you may be in contact with. Also, keep in mind studies today are very likely to prove that once fully vaccinated you are not likely to even get the virus.
My son's immune system is severely compromised because of immunotherapy that was part of his treatment for metastatic melanoma. Should he come in contact with a non vaccinated individual with the virus and its passed on to him it could very well be fatal. That is personal to me and why I just don't understand how anyone can question the benefits of being vaccinated-unless they simply can't take the burden being imposed on them in travelling, etc.
As long as people claim, as your post implies, the "benefits" are not worth the "burden" the burdens will continue indefinitely. A primary goal ("benefit"
is for sufficient enough people to be vaccinated so as to establish herd immunity thus eliminating the burdens imposed on travelling and opening our economy. My fear is that enough anti vaccers will prevent this from occuring.
